As I am a creature of habit I just spent my afternoon again with my beloved cutie pies aka Thai BL actors. And because I felt like it I watched Our Skyy Ep 5 again because let’s face it, a crying Krist is always something sweet for the afternoon.
Well this time I have to say that something bugged me. Like big time bugged me. Don’t get me wrong: I loved this episode and I will never ever get tired of Krist and Sing together. They are just pure perfection and I think they prove time and time again why they are still THE Thai BL couple out there.
Normally everyone is saying that Kong is the perfect boyfriend. He is loyal, caring and really shows his love to Arthit every second he gets a chance. Arthit on the other hand gets quiet often hate because he is shy to the point where his behaviour is almost rude towards our little koala baby Kong. He can be quiet abrupt and his dislike for PDAs even after their coming out is still a bit annoying.
But all this changed for me in the Our Skyy episode. Because here it’s actually Kong who is a shitty boyfriend for a change.
I don’t mean that he is a bad boyfriend because he wants to go to China for studying. Not at all. I did the same thing (not China, just the UK) and I was lucky enough to have a supportive boyfriend at the time. And I think Kong has the same luck. Arthit is helping him studying and is doing everything in his power to help him get the scholarship, even though this will mean them having a LDR for the next two years.
I think both of them are making the first mistake when they are just ignoring the elephant in the room that is the LD. It seems like they are both just in denial. It doesn’t look like they have a proper conversation about things until Kong actually gets the scholarship. And even then they don’t really talk. I mean, people: Communication is the base for every relationship!
But they don’t and stupid Arthit is of course dwelling about things, but is not letting Kong know what is going on. And for me, this is where the bugging started.
Kong and Arthit have been together for over 4 years at that point. They know each other extremely well. Arthit is even crying for f**** sakes. But Kong is still not addressing the pink elephant. No, he just ignores it. And then he even has the nerve to let Arthit know that he will be leaving by the end of the WEEK when they are surrounded by their friends.
Don’t you think that maaaaaaaybe you should have discussed that in private? And maybe discuss it a bit beforehand? You could have just discussed it hypothetically for heaven’s sake.
But Kong is even making it worse. After Arthit has been crying (and Kong knew that Arthit cried in the shower, I have no doubt about that) and behaving shifty as f**** all evening, Kong then just mentions in a matter of fact fashion that he will be leaving tomorrow morning and won’t be coming back before he leaves for China.
I mean, come on, Kong. You won’t be coming back for bloody TWO years. Again that should have been something to discuss a bit earlier.
But let’s move to the part that annoyed me the most: the meeting at the bridge.
We have Arthit who is practically crying his eyes out while pouring his heart out to Kong. And what does Kong? Does he hug him, dries his tears, tries to make it better?
Noooooo, he doesn’t, the bloody idiot. He just says some things (in my opinion not even the right ones) and then leaves Arthit, crying Arthit to his own devises. I mean, how can you do that? Your boyfriend is hurt. He is scared and confused and he needs you right now.
Yes, I understand that Kong most likely is overwhelmed and stressed out of his mind. But that happens when you are trying to protect your partner from everything. I am sure Kong just didn’t bring all these things about him leaving up, because he didn’t want to upset Arthit. It’s again the same pattern as in Sotus S where he took the internship and moved into the flat next to Arthit without telling him. He wanted to help Arthit and be there for him, but didn’t consider talking to him first.
And again Kong is not talking. You could maybe blame Arthit for the same, but as Kong is the one leaving I believe the ball is in his court. Also Kong should know better then expect Arthit to be honest about his feelings. Arthit is so secretive and Kong knows that. He should have brought it up in my opinion.
But I think the main reason for me ranting is that Kong doesn’t hug Arthit and leaves him just at the bloody bridge. I am sure Kong was just annoyed that Arthit came out with all his worries at the last minute, but there would have been a better way to handle all this.
Then again both of them are quiet young. It’s a new situation and they are both equally overwhelmed. I guess I should give Kong a break.
But I just can’t see Arthit cry. Like never. All I want to do is take him, wrap him in cotton whool and protect him from the rest of the world.
