Hello, hello, my lovely fellow bookworms,
And welcome to another little idea I had recently for a new little series I could do. See, I never was big into manga. When I was a teenager in Germany getting your paws on a manga was totally impossible (we bought our cassette tapes and cds via mail order back then). When I was in my twenties manga finally arrived in Germany but being a poor ass student I just couldn’t afford to buy them as often as I would have liked. I still own a tiny little collection of early 2000 mangas but it’s really just enough to dip my toe in. But I definitely tried to stay away as I knew that it would financially ruin me.
So this brings us to today. I am a full ass grown up with some form of disposable income and I recently noticed that our bookstores started having special BL sections. And this let me down a rabbit hole I still have not emerged from. So here I am. Pretty much a manga novice in many areas, starting to read.
And that’s what I thought this series could be about. Me reading mangas. I have no idea about backgrounds or drawing or anything. I just enjoy reading male on male love stories. So it’s pretty much a novice reading something they have no idea about. And since I am enjoying these shorter blogs so much at the moment I thought I am also gonna keep this series short.
So with all this out of the way now, let’s just move on to our first review. Buckle up, because it’s gonna be a wild ride.
Konya Kimi To Nemuritai by Takiba
What Is It About?
Kanzaki is a successful businessman, who just got transferred back to his hometown by his company, after five years somewhere else. He is good looking and everyone seems to like him. It’s a mystery why he is still alone. But Kanzaki has a secret. Before he left his hometown he had a long standing affair with a male callboy named Nagi. Even after all these years he just can’t forget Nagi. But what happens, when Nagi suddenly appears to be working for the same company? Can Kanzaki finally forget him or is there a chance for love after all?
Why Did I Buy It?
I will be honest. I bought it because I thought the cover looked pretty. When I read the description on the back afterwards I found the setting quite promising and therefore it ended up in my shopping bag.
Age Rating?
18+ and definitely deserved. Don’t read with family around.
How Many Volumes?
Just this one.
How Did I Like It?
I actually am surprised how much I liked it. I am not the girl for the most hardcore stuff in a manga. I am there for the story. Really!!!! Star, stop laughing!!!! Since the whole story starts with a callboy and his customer I thought it would be for sure pretty much just about sex. But I was totally wrong. Because that’s absolutely not what it’s about. It’s definitely a love story and it talks a lot about being worthy of someone’s love and how maybe our own insecurities can hurt the people we want to protect the most.
Final Impression?
Thoroughly enjoyed this one. It was definitely an 18+ manga, but I can live with that. The storyline is definitely the main attraction here, but the drawings and everything else are also pretty excellent and I really enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would.
How Many Pink Milks?
(Zero Pink Milks mean “no fluff at all”, five Pink Milks mean “you gonna die of diabetes”)

How Many Chilli Peppers?
(Zero Chillies mean not even a kiss, five Chillies mean “don’t read in company”)
5
How Many Hearts?
(Zero Hearts mean “hated it with a passion”, five Hearts mean “totally loved it”)

And here we are. With my first super short recommendation. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did writing it. And please if you have already read this one, leave a comment down below and let me know what you felt about this one.
