Hello, hello, hello, my lovelies..
Today is Tuesday and we all know what that means: It’s another love song day. Wohooo. And funnily enough the song i want to introduce to you today is pretty much made for this series because the name couldn’t be more fitting:
Tuesday, 3 am
By the wonderful Nita Whitaker
The version I want to present to you today however is performed by Rebekah Johnson, who also played one of the roles in the movie that belongs to this wonderful song: Latter Days.
I am not sure how many of you actually know this movie but when it came out in 2003 it definitely caused some major waves. And rightly so, if you ask me. The love story between party boy Christian and mormon Aaron really captured such a unique love story that proved to everyone that yes, indeed, love can conquer it all. You just need to really keep on hanging in there.
And this is really where this song comes in. At the darkest moment of Christian’s life his room mate actually uses his diary entries to compose this song. In these diary entries Christian describes so beautifully and painfully what losing Aaron meant to him and how much it’s literally destroying him. I have to say that this is one song that I can hardly listen to without crying. Because it’s just so, so beautiful and Rebekah’s voice fits just so absolutely beautiful to the song, it’s really ridiculous.
So if you wanna take a trip through the whole range of human emotions, please watch Latter Days. Well, and if you are a grown up, because the sexy scenes are definitely not a laughing matter. There is a reason why Steve Sandvoss turned into a gay icon after the movie. Trust me.
But for now, let’s take a walk through Christian’s worst nightmares and maybe try to dry a tear or two on our cheek.
Lyrics:
Tuesday 3 a.m.
Once again I’m wide awake
Waiting for time to mend this part of me
that keeps on breaking
Newpapers I threw away
washed the dishes in the sink
3 AM on Tuesday
I have too much time to think
And I could call up to heaven
or I could crawl down through hell
Nothing will change the way things are
and nothing ever will
He thinks I can’t hear him crying
and I pretend that I don’t know, or
about all those 3 AM’s he spends wrestling
with your ghost
I hear him call out to heaven
I watch him crawl down to Hell
He still not getting over you
I know he never will
Nothing he says cant bring you back
He’s got nothing left to show
But a pocket watch and a memory of a kiss
out in the snow
And I hear him call out to heaven
I watch him crawl down to Hell
He is not getting over you
I know he never will
No, I am not crying. You are crying. Stupid, onion cutting ninjas. How dare they?
But yeah, I hope you have fallen in love with this really beautiful and sad love song the same I did all these years ago. It’s really something special and like literally one of THE songs in BL history.
And with this I am gonna stop this lovely Love Songs and let’s wait what we have in store for you next week. I am sure it’s gonna be fantastic.
